The Queen is in residence – in more ways than one! Beyonce is up for major awards at the Grammys this year, going toe to toe with Adele in all three top categories.
Queen Bey beats out even Canadian musical prodigy Drake with a staggering NINE nominations – many just for Lemonade, which is up for album of the year. Formation is up for record of the year and song of the year. She’s also nominated in the pop category (“Hold Up,” pop solo performance), rock (“Don’t Hurt Yourself,” with Jack White, for rock performance), R&B (“Lemonade,” for urban contemporary album) and rap (“Freedom,” with Kendrick Lamar, for best rap/sung performance). “Lemonade” was also nominated for best music film, and “Formation” for best music video.
Beyoncé has been nominated 62 times in her career, making her the clear lead – more than any other female artist. With 20 awards under her belt, Beyoncé would surpass Alison Krauss as the most-honored woman in Grammy history if she sweeps just 8 out of 9 this year.
Bey and hubby Jay Z have multiple pieces of real estate across the globe, with their Big Easy home at the top of the list – the 7 bedroom N’awlin’s mansion boasts the city’s biggest rooftop garden, and made a splash when Bey’s sister Solange was married there in style a few years ago.
From New Orleans to New York, New York – Beyoncé’s Hudson Street loft in Tribeca is in a building where similar apartments list for between $4 and $8 million. A quick jump down to the equator, and they can vacation in their stunning 30,000 square foot Hawaiian summer estate in Kailua, which they’ve rented for years along with Jessica Simpson; Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam held his wedding there as well.
Another rental – Holmby Hills provides a refuge since the Queen and consort have failed to find a permanent spot in LA. 7 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, and an infinity pool complete with a waterfall makes the $150,000 a month deal seem pretty sweet. It also lets them hang with Kim and Kanye whenever they want!
Blue Ivy took her first steps in yet another summer rental in Bridgehampton – the luxurious estate was $400,000 when the couple stayed there but now has bumped the asking price to a flat million per month in season.
Beyoncé won’t just be (in all likelihood) accepting awards at the Grammys; the 35-year-old pregnant pop diva is also scheduled to perform one of her Lemonade tracks onstage LA’s Staples Center. Otherwise, she’ll be seated front and center with hubby Jay Z, resting herself – the famous Queen is expecting twins!
The Houston, Texas homegirl danced, sang, and acted as a girl before making the big time as part of Destiny’s Child, and appeared Dreamgirls, Obsessed, and the Austin Powers franchise. Forbes named her the most powerful woman in entertainment in 2015, and the image of her on a stage fronted by the word “FEMINIST” became instantly iconic.
