About Bonnie Barbieri
The northern part of the Tampa Bay region, namely Hernando and northern Pasco Counties, are listed as being the cheapest cities in Florida to buy a house. Home prices in this area currently range from approximately eighty to ninety thousand dollars. In a state where tropical living and high-end retirement communities are the norm, these prices represent the best of both worlds. Having access to the best that Florida has to offer while having a price range that is well within reach for most families, Hernando and northern Pasco Counties are prime real estate.
All of the world-class attractions of Orlando are a short trip away. Walt Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios, they are all within driving distance. So is Busch Gardens in Tampa. Hernando County even has its own world-famous attractions, Weeki Wachee Springs and the Buccaneer Bay Water Park. The mermaid shows at Weeki Wachee Springs have been featured on television numerous times. Stop by often enough, and you may even see a celebrity or two soaking in the sights, as it is a popular attraction among some showbiz personalities.
The area is also home to the University of South Florida, a renowned research university. Students who live in Hernando or upper Pasco Counties can easily drive to class. We also have numerous smaller colleges and community college offerings as well. All of which provide excellent training for today's workforce. Buying a home in the area would not just give you access to all sorts of attractions but it can also be an investment in your children's future.
The area boasts ample amounts of cultural allure as well. The Salvador Dali Museum is nearby in St. Petersburg. The Holocaust Museum is not far from that. Tampa boasts a few independent art galleries. If nature is more your thing, the University of South Florida features a botanical garden that is among the best in the region. Buying a home in Hernando County would put you within a few minutes of one of the largest nature preserves in the state. In the northern part of the county, there is an expansive wildlife preserve. North of that, Citrus County has similar attractions.
Trying to get any closer to all of the action and benefits life in the Tampa Bay Area has to offer, could set you back an extra ten or twenty thousand dollars, if not more. Buying a home in Hernando or Pasco Counties saves you from the enormous added expense that comes with living in Tampa or St. Petersburg. Plus the larger cities are crowded and homes are smaller unless you pay significantly more. Buying a home north of there, in Pasco or Hernando County, allows you to have a larger property for less money, with less of the hassles of city life.
