Prior to his profession in real estate, Michael and his wife Donna were founders and co-directors of Gift of Life Adoption Services, Inc., an international adoption agency, for 20 years. The agency was established in 1991 based on the Riccis dedication to the philosophy that all children have the undeniable right to be nurtured, loved and protected, with the permanency of a family to call their own. They held licenses in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts and were members of the Child Welfare League of America. They facilitated placement of hundreds of children living in orphanages in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, China and Guatemala with loving families living throughout the U.S. The Riccis traveled extensively to these countries to meet government officials and orphanage directors to introduce their strong vision of hope and opportunity for children. They subsequently established adoption programs and co-founded a sister organization, Save the Lost Souls International, which provided humanitarian aid and medical treatment to those children still in orphanages. The Riccis worked tirelessly with prospective adoptive parents in the U.S., working one-on-one with them during every step of the process, ensuring a smooth transition and strong support system for every child.
