The Brangelina Breakup – Who Gets What?

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were the fairy tale Hollywood couple… together for ten years and married for two, with a blended family of six children they had or adopted together. No-one saw the celebrities breakup coming.

Jolie has filed for custody of the kids, but who gets the houses? Here’s a look at the real estates at stake in the Brangelina breakup.

The Château Miraval

The Château Miraval

This gorgeous villa (and active, award winning winery) was first rented by Jolie and Pitt in 2008, and purchased four years later for $60 million. The historic real estate, named the Château Miraval, dates back to the 1700s and is located in the south of France near Cannes. The 1,200 acres boasts a lake, moat, pool, olive groves, forests, dirt bike course, and the massive 35-bedroom house that includes an indoor pool, banquet hall, and recording studio as well as a chapel (where the couple was wed) and even helipads.

Predating the couple’s relationship, this was Brad Pitt’s main pad. The actor purchased the 5,300-square-foot house in 1994 for a reported $1.7 million. He subsequently bought more land and some smaller houses to form his own compound.  The home is in a gated community near Los Angeles real estate on 1.9 acres, and the couple tried to make it child safe when they decided to adopt and have kids of their own.

The New Orleans house

This gorgeous New Orleans French Quarter mansion dates to the 1830s. It’s been renovated, and was purchased by the Jolie-Pitts in  2006. The 7,000 square foot home, which has five bedrooms, five baths, five fireplaces, a library, an elevator, and a two-story guest house, was originally listed for $6.5 million but is now down to $5.65 million.

The Santa Barbara Compound

Pitt’s second 11.5 acre compound lies between the Las Varas Canyon and El Capitan State Beach in Santa Barbara, California; he bought it in 2000 for $4 million. Neighbors have not appreciated Pitt and his children four wheeling on the beach, and Santa Barbara real estate agents will confirm that, which was the former site of an oil spill and has been slow to recover.

Jolie is rumored to own an apartment of her own which she purchased in 1997 in the Ansonia building on New York’s Upper West Side, and she also owns a traditional home in Cambodia.

With several real estate properties pre-dating the split, Brad will have no problem finding a place to live. If Angie gets physical custody we may expect to see her keep the French Villa.

Which real estate properties do you think will go to Brad, and which to Angelina? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below!
