After 20 years in the Electronics and Manufacturing Industry, Dick decided that Real Estate would be a greater challenge.
In 1984, he opened the doors to American Brokers in Prospect Heights, IL which over the years became a pillar in the community & one of the Top ERA Franchises in the US.
As a Past President of the Local Chamber of Commerce, Dick played a key role in planning the successful economic development of his community, again bringing people together.
Served 2 terms as President of the Local Chapter of the Lion's Club and 16 years as Leadership Trainer for the Cub Scouts adds to his recognition as Citizen Of The Year in 1994.
Whether it's promoting water safety as Commander of the US Power Squadron, spearheading the annual fundraiser for "Jerry's Kids" or organizing the distribution of 40,000 American flags in the area communities for 4th of July, just a few minutes with Dick Hughes and it becomes quickly apparent that he is a Mover and a Shaker!

Licensed Real Estate Broker in Both FL & IL, Past president of the Chicagoland Broker Council, consisting of more that 50 ERA Real Estate Companies, Served 3 years on the National Advisory Council for the ERA Franchise, past president of 5 Homeowners Associations, Graduate of the Realtor's Institute (GRI), Board of Realtor's Membership committee, City Equal Opportunity Housing committee Chairman, City Property Manager for many years, Private Pilot since 1966 and holds a US Coast Guard Master Captain's License, PLUS SALES OF OVER $135,000,000 OF RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE.
