It became the largest field hospital after the terrible battle and nearby the McGavock Confederate Cemetery was established. 

The cemetery holds about 1,500 soldiers who died during the battle and the site is the place where you can find the family along with the enslaved cemeteries. This is a one hour tour that is well worth it and it offers a deep insight into the history of Slavery, Battlefield, and behind the scenes.

Natchez Trace Parkway Bridge
