On Florida’s west coast, situated on the Gulf of Mexico, the quiet little town of Venice is one of the most underappreciated gems in the state. Residents of this town get to enjoy a myriad of attractive benefits and amenities. From low crime rates and an attractively low median home price to its long list of things to see and do, it’s abundantly clear that Venice FL is not just a great place to visit; it’s a great place to live!

This is a city for everyone. Whether you are a young, ambitious professional seeking a city with good job prospects or an elderly retiree looking for a good place to settle down, this might just be the town for you! If this town was already on your radar, you probably know this already; if not, then let us get you in the know!

In this article, we’re going to go over some of the stuff that makes Venice special. We’ll be discussing practical concerns like the real estate market and crime rates, as well as some queries more closely related to the quality of life such as attractions and amenities. Without further ado, let’s jump right in and find out a little more about the charming city of Venice FL!

Real estate market in Venice FL

Before we can explore the fun side of Venice, we’ve got to take a look at the practical side. These are the questions any responsible adult will be asking before moving, and we’ve got the answers! Real estate is at the top of this list because none of the other questions are of much consequence unless you’ve got a place to live, after all. Let’s get into it!

If you are interested in purchasing a home in Venice, then you’re in luck! The real estate market in Venice FL is red hot, but home prices are still very reasonable. First, let’s take a look at the latter: home prices. Home prices play a crucial role in finding out just how expensive it is to live in any given area, and are just as helpful in determining how expensive it is to live in Venice FL.

The median home price in Venice FL is right around $405,000. While this is a bit above the national average, the investment potential here is exceptional, all while maintaining a great level of accessibility for the average buyer. Homebuyers with a reasonable budget will quickly find that homes can be found for prices well below this average, and, while the initial cost is low, homes in Venice hold their value exceptionally well.

Renting in Venice FL is also a very viable option. The average rent price per month has not fluctuated a great deal over the past several years, holding steady around $1,560 a month. This is well below the national average and makes it much easier for those unwilling to commit to a move to find housing at an affordable price.

Investment in Venice is a solid proposition, as the market is currently buyer oriented, with lower prices and good value retention. Industrial and commercial real estate is also a very viable sector for investment, with demand for developed real estate at a very respectable level. The bottom line is this: whether you’re an investor or a homebuyer, chances are you’ll find the real estate market in Venice FL very agreeable!

Job availability in Venice FL

Another thing you’ll have to take into consideration when contemplating a move to Venice is the job situation. While finding a home to live in is certainly important, the ability to pay for that housing and keep food on your table and gas in your tank is also of great importance. Fortunately, the job situation in Venice FL is just as good as the real estate market!

While Venice isn’t the largest city in Florida in terms of population, there is still a lot of demand for both lay workers and skilled professionals. Whether you are a certified trade worker or a manual laborer, you’ll find that the city of Venice has you covered when it comes to finding a suitable job with good upwards mobility and a healthy salary.

As is true of almost every city, lay workers in Venice can expect to make significantly less than those with certification or higher education; however, the job opportunities you can expect in Venice are still very attractive. With a great deal of demand for workers in the construction industry, the service industry and other similar sectors, you shouldn’t have any trouble finding a good job with upward mobility and good benefits.

Skilled professionals are also in high demand in Venice FL. While careers in law, medicine, finance and similar industries may not make quite as much as they would in larger cities, the demand is there and the other benefits of living here more than makeup for a slightly smaller salary. If you are willing to commute an hour, higher paying professional work can also be found in nearby Tampa, which is another option if you want the highest salary possible.

Crime rates in Venice FL

Another thing that makes Venice such a great place to live is its exceptionally low crime rates. The city of Venice has low violent and property crime rates, which makes it a great place for families, or anyone else who values peace of mind regarding this aspect of everyday life. If you choose to move to Venice FL, your chances of becoming the victim of a violent crime are virtually zero!

First, let’s take a look at property crime rates. This category includes any crime involving personal property or real estate, from burglary to theft to pilfering. In the city of Venice FL, this statistic is far lower than the national and state averages, at just 13.9 incidents per 1,000 residents per year. This is nearly half the national average!

The statistics for violent crime are even more impressive! In Venice, the violent crime rate is just over 1 incident per 1,000 residents per year. In comparison to the national median of 4 incidents per 1,000 residents per year, this is quite impressive! At the end of the day, you can rest assured that, if you choose the city of Venice FL as your new home, you can have the peace of mind that comes with fabulously low crime rates.

Things to do in Venice

Now that all the banal practical matters are out of the way, let’s talk about all the great things to see and do in Venice FL. There are a lot, so we won’t get to all of them; however, we hope we’ll be able to mention all the most popular activities and attractions. Let’s jump in!

For starters, Venice is a historic city, with decades upon decades of fascinating tales to be uncovered and explored. Many of these attractions are of such great significance that they’ve even been added to the national register of historic places! Whether you’re exploring the home of a famed U.S. senator or just taking in the regal splendor of a hotel built in the timeless colonial style, any history buffs among you are sure to be entertained and amazed.

Then of course, you have one of the things Venice FL is most known for: its beaches! These immaculate stretches of white sand are the perfect place to lay out a towel and relax, or go swimming, snorkeling or surfing. What’s more, they’re also one of the best places in the world to collect shark teeth, so your inner zoologist won’t be feeling left out!

If your adventures on Venice’s beaches and its historic areas have left you feeling a bit hungry or parched, then never fear: there are plenty of places to squelch your appetite and slake your thirst! From artisan bistros and sophisticated five star restaurants to down to earth cafes and raucous bars and clubs, there is no shortage of places to grab a bite or wet your beak in Venice!

Conclusion

If you are as sold on Venice as we are, we don’t blame you! It’s a beautiful city, with tons of great attractions and amenities, and just as many practical upsides that accompany living there. Want to move to this charming little city? The best way to start the process is by contacting one of the top real estate agents in Venice FL. These skilled real estate professionals will do their best to find you a home that suits your needs, at the lowest price possible.

We hope you find Venice to your liking, and this article too! If you have any questions, feedback or concerns, we encourage you to leave us a comment in the comments section below. We do our best to respond to each and every comment we receive, and yours is no different. Enjoy Venice!

While I totally agree with the writers words on the beauty of Venice and it’s beaches, he is totally wrong about the cost of real estate in Venice, Fl. I purchased a small 3 br 2 bath home in Venice 2 yrs ago and spent 400k. Today that home is valued at over 500k. You would also be very hard pressed to find a rental for
1200 per month. Check the newspaper and see the ads for rentals. Perhaps Andrei would be better off writing
on other subjects or at least check on the real prices of homes in the market he is writing about.

Hi Ed, Andrei here. I’ve reviewed the information in the article, and you’re absolutely right; my figures were way off. I’ve amended the incorrect amounts, everything should check out now. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do for ya!
