Tenant At Sufferance
Interest in real property that exists when a tenant remains in possession of leased premises or a "hold over" after his right to possession has ended. In a tenancy at sufferance, a tenant is called a holdover tenant. For example, Jill is a tenant at sufferance. Brian, the landowner, is entitled to evict her and recover the possession of the property, provided he does so in a timely manner.
