The small but rapidly expanding city of New Braunfels is one of the highlights of Texas Hill Country. It was established in 1845 by Prince Carol of Solms-Braunfels, who gave the initial settlement the name Solms-Braunfels, after his hometown in Germany. New Braunfels is now one of the most authentic German-American cities in the United States, even though the German prince could not transform the city into New Germany. Despite its location in Texas, this city is renowned for its summertime river rafting and water sports activities. Because of the German influence on the culture and history of the community, it’s also a different kind of adventure.

New Braunfels Conservation Society

The primary objective of the New Braunfels Conservation Society, which occupies a picturesque building on 3.5 acres of land, is to safeguard the cultural and historical heritage of the city. It is undoubtedly one of the best ways to learn more about the city's past. Each of the 18 structures owned by the New Braunfels Conservation Society is historically significant and tells the story of life in 1845. One of the attractions in this unspoiled area is the genuine original Sunday House, complete with a genuine outhouse and original heirloom tools. A few of the locations in the conservation society include the authentic and meticulously restored 1907 REO automobile, the working and charming barbershop, the garage, and even Stefan Haelbig's own music studio. The Lindheimer House, the city's most significantly historic home, was the object of the organization's creation in 1964.
