Group Practice Health Maintenance Organization (HMO)
HEALTH MAINTENANCE ORGANIZATION that restricts to a relatively small amount the number of medical providers from which an HMO member may seek services. Usually, HMO members may select the primary care physician of their choice from this number. After rendering services to the HMO member, the physician charges the HMO a predetermined fee. Frequently, this select group of medical providers are exclusively in the employment of this particular HMO.
